Ferry Point

Ferry Point

— Annapolis, Maryland —

THE FAMILIAR REGIONAL FORMS of this handsome new house impart a harmonious addition to the historical maritime milieu of Annapolis. Constructed of slate and handmade red brick with a wing and low wall embracing the entry garden, the front façade is hospitality itself, beckoning owners and visitors alike.

Inside, a gracious five-part plan is largely one-room deep, allowing all the major spaces to be filled with light. Enfilades guide the eye through the house, connecting the rooms along an internal path while framing views out to the surrounding landscape. The flow of the plan allows for everyday ease of living as well as for pleasant entertaining while subtle, handcrafted detailing inside and out captures the historic context. Rising on the bluff overlooking the Severn River, the rear elevation’s flagstone-paved porch offers the ideal lookout from which to enjoy the splendor of the waterfront.
